TRADITIONAL NATIVE BLACK on BLACK POTTERY FIRING, DEMONSTRATION
and HANDS ON POTTERY MAKING

Exquisite Black-on-black pottery firing and demonstration at Santa Clara Pueblo, near Espanola, NM. Only 30 minutes north of Santa Fe. Meet potter Merton Sisneros of the Okhuwa Ping Studio. Merton is one of a few Natives in this region making pottery in the traditional way handed down from his ancestors thousands of years ago. He has won numerous awards for his pottery. Many visitors on this tour have raved this was the highlight of their trip to the Southwest.

Please note that sometimes the Pueblo may be closed to outsiders and the studio will not be accessible. Alternative arrangements will be made at that time.

All pottery materials provided. At least 24 hours notice required. NO cameras, video cams, sketching, or cell phones allowed.

This is a half day tour. Reservations required at least 24 hours in advance. We depart Garrett's Desert Inn at 8:00 a.m. and conclude about 12:30 p.m. at the pueblo. You provide your own transportation. The fee is one hundred dollars per adult, children under 12 are fifty dollars. A non-refundable deposit for one half of the total cost of the tour is required. Cancellations may be made up to forty eight hours before the tour.

Merton's beautiful museum quality pottery can be purchased at the studio.
